Is unemployment going down? According to the Office for National Statistics, it is, albeit by a tiny amount.
There were 32,300 fewer people receiving jobseeker\'s allowance in February than in the previous month, this morning\'s - seasonally adjusted - figures show . City economists had expected unemployment to go up by 8,000 and January\'s increase of 23,500 has been revised lower to a rise of just 5,300.
The figures below, out each month, show benefit claimants in each UK parliamentary constituency.
We\'ve gone for claimants rather than unemployed because — although the numbers are lower — they are bang up to date and available at a really local level, so you can see exactly what\'s happening near where you live.
These are not seasonally adjusted - which explains the slight difference with the totals - these figures go up by 0.2% nationally, compared to the fall when the time of year is taken into account.
To help out, we\'ve also done some percentage changes too, in the last column on the right. Paddy Allen has done a visualisation for this. We\'ve also worked out the percentage changes for men and women.
